Gold coins on display at A Day in PompeiiWednesday, 12th December 2007 (1713 views) Gold coins and jewellery are set to go on display in San Diego, California as part of a museum exhibit documenting life in ancient Rome, according to artdaily.org.The city's natural history museum is set to host an exhibition entitled A Day in Pompeii from February 15th, presenting over 250 artefacts and art objects as well as body casts of eight victims of the eruption of Mount Vesuvius in 79 AD. Jim Stone, the museum's vice-president of public programmes, said the artefacts presented in the display represent an accurate snapshot of life at the time. "The startling level of preservation of the objects in the exhibition transports the visitor almost two millennia back in time and captures the essence of daily life in ancient Pompeii," he said. He added that visitors will be able to view women's jewellery from the time, as well as gold currency. Museum guests will also be able to view a display of the Earth's active volcanoes and stories of the most famous eruptions. The San Diego Natural History Museum is also set to host an exhibition entitled Photography at the Poles featuring images captured by National Geographic photographers from January 19th to May 5th next year.
