Mediterranean gold artefacts at Dallas museumFriday, 7th December 2007 (1587 views) A collection of gold Mediterranean artefacts are on display at a museum in Dallas, Texas.The Art of Europe exhibition is a permanent fixture at the Dallas Museum of Art and has been cited as a place to visit during December by Dallas and Forth Worth's Channel 8 News. Included in the collection are ancient objects made of gold, including gold discs depicting a number of mythical deities, intricately carved gold pendants and a gold finger ring with an engraving of the goddess Athena, which dates back to the third century BC. As well, the gallery features an ornate bracelet, featuring two lions' heads made of sheet gold joined by a blue glass hoop. In addition to viewing the gold artefacts on display in the museum's permanent European art collection, residents of the city will look forward to the upcoming Tutankhamun and the Golden Age of the Pharaohs, which is set to open as a temporary exhibition at the museum in October 2008. Gold artefacts from ancient Egypt are set to be part of the exhibit, which is currently open to visitors in London, England.
