Gold cosmetics 'create shimmer and glow'Monday, 3rd December 2007 (2762 views) Cosmetic products containing gold are quickly becoming a must-have for the 2007 Christmas season, according to the Financial Times.Facial creams containing gold particles or flakes, including Chantecaille's Nano Gold Energising Cream and L'Or Radiance Concentrate with Pure Gold by Guerlain, are noted for their anti-inflammatory properties, which cosmetics developer Sylvie Chantecaille said helps the skin "manage its energy". According to Ms Chantecaille, the idea to incorporate gold into her cosmetics came from the medical application of gold as a treatment for arthritis and multiple sclerosis, after which people claim to have more movement and control. She said that the same properties which soothe aching joints and muscles can be adapted to heal and restore damaged skin. "I have a lot of sun damage as I've been sunning myself like a fool all my life and I see that disappears [when I use it]," she explained. Ms Chantecaille added that creams containing gold also seem to control and rebalance oily skin. Likewise, Emma Maclennan of Carita UK told the newspaper that gold provides an "irridescent shimmer, luminosity and glow to the skin". Recently, Japanese skincare company Umo developed the Gold Facial treatment, which massages 24-carat gold into the facial skin.
