Eco-gold coins 'a unique product'Monday, 3rd December 2007 (1907 views) A company in Canada's Yukon Territory will be the first to be recognised worldwide as an eco-gold producer, according to the Globe and Mail. The Canadian national newspaper reported that a minted one-ounce coin is set to be unveiled by Mammoth Gold this week the company's first eco-gold product. Crafted from 100 per cent Yukon gold mined using environmentally-friendly practices in Dominion Creek, the coins are minted by California refiner Argen at the Lasqueti Mint. Each coin comes with a letter from the territorial government verifying the region's environmentally-friendly mining practices, as well as information about where the gold travels during the period between the mining process and the sale of the finished coin. All documents contained with the coin are printed on recycled paper and each coin comes in a handmade wooden box, according to the company. Some 250 gold coins were produced in the first minting, with each coin costing C$1,650 (£795).
