Gold facial treatment 'rejuvenates skin'The news feeds on this site are independently provided by Adfero Limited © and do not represent the views or opinions of the World Gold Council. Tuesday, 13th November 2007 (3951 views) Japanese beauty company UMO has developed a new skin treatment using a sheet of 24-carat gold. The treatment, which the company describes as "the ultimate skin rejuvenating experience," claims to take advantage of gold's natural healing properties "to deliver golden skin", according to UMO's US website. Using a new technology dubbed Gamma PGA/Nano Mist, gold particles are dissolved, enabling them to pass through the skin barrier. The anti-inflammatory properties of the precious metal decrease skin inflammation and reduce age spots, while working to slow the depletion of collagen and elastin to provide a tightening effect. Beginning with a deep facial cleansing, the face is massaged using Gamma PGA. This treatment is then followed by two applications of Nano Mist and the application of sheets of 24-carat gold to the face, which is massaged into the skin. The treatment, which was demonstrated at Japan's Beautyworld 2007 trade fair, is estimated to cost around 30,000 yen (£130), according to MSN Life & Style.
