Edible gold tops record-setting dessertThe news feeds on this site are independently provided by Adfero Limited © and do not represent the views or opinions of the World Gold Council. Thursday, 8th November 2007 (3285 views) A frozen dessert, containing five grams of edible 24-carat gold, has been honoured by the Guinness Book of World Records as the planet's most expensive dessert. The after-dinner luxury, called the Frrozen Haute Chocolate, is available at Serendipity 3, a restaurant in New York City's Upper East Side for $25,000 (£11,873). Served in a goblet decorated with gold, the dessert is made from a mixture of cocoas from 14 different countries, milk and whipped cream and is also topped with shavings from a luxury truffle. It also comes with a golden spoon, which customers can take home as a keepsake when they are finished, according to newsday.com. Frrozen Haute Chocolate is the result of collaborative efforts between Serendipity 3 owner Stephen Bruce and US jeweller Euphoria New York. According to Reuters, the dessert is only sold through advance orders. News of the expensive dessert follows reports earlier this week of a $1,000 bagel available at the Westin New York hotel, which is topped with cream cheese containing white truffles and gold leaves.
