New gold zone identified at Lac-HerbinMonday, 15th October 2007 (1559 views) An underground exploration programme at the Lac-Herbin property, located in Quebec, Canada, has confirmed the discovery of a new gold zone on the site, which has increased the resource estimate of the project.Ongoing underground exploratory drilling is currently in Phase IV development and is on schedule to complete a 10,000 ounce gold bulk sample by the end of the year. The new HW2 zone, discovered between the Lac Herbin Zone and the Sq Zone, has a known strike length of 300 metres and extends to a depth of 400 metres below surface level, where additional drilling will be carried out to test the economic potential of the gold zone. "Underground exploration continues to confirm excellent lateral continuity of mineralisation in shear-vein systems at Lac Herbin and is providing very good confidence in the viability of the Lac Herbin project," said David Rigg, president and chief executive officer of Alexis Minerals. Focused on mining in the Quebec regions of Val d'Or and Rouyn-Noranda, Alexis Minerals is listed on the TSX Venture Exchange.
