CMJ to publish full report on Island gold projectMonday, 15th October 2007 (1435 views) The Canadian Mining Journal (CMJ) plans to feature a report on the newly-opened Island gold mine near Wawa, Ontario in early 2008, it has emerged.According to the magazine, CMJ editor Jane Werniuk attended the opening of the gold mine at the beginning of October and will author the report, which is expected to be published in the January 2008 issue. The Island gold mine, a joint venture between Richmont Mines and Patricia Mining, opened on October 3rd with an investor day featuring presentations from management at the project, as well as a full tour of the onsite mill and underground gold mine. At least four years of gold production are expected at the Island gold property located 14 kilometres east of the northern Ontario town of Dubreuiville which has proven and probable resources of 278,711 ounces of gold. The mill was originally put into production in September 2006 and 2,151 ounces of gold were sold from the Island gold project by December of the same year. Richmont Mines has a 55 per cent interest in the project and is the mine operator.
