Crushing circuit tested at Rock Creek mineMonday, 8th October 2007 (1460 views) Crushing circuit testing has begun at the Rock Creek gold mine in the state of Alaska, according to the Canadian Mining Journal.NovaGold Resources has begun the test of the crusher as part of the first step towards running the mill on the property, which is located 12 kilometres from the city of Nome, Alaska. The company's Nome Operations, which includes the Rock Creek property as well as Big Hurrah and Nome Gold, is targeted to begin commercial production by the end of this year. According to the Canadian Mining Journal, the Rock Creek deposit will be operated as an open-pit mine, creating 135 permanent jobs and producing an estimated 100,000 ounces of gold each year. Based in Vancouver, Canada, NovaGold Resources has several wholly-owned and jointly-owned gold production properties in western Canada and the state of Alaska. The company also recently made a presentation at the 2007 Denver Gold Show at the end of September.
