Polyus launches gold processing plantTuesday, 17th July 2007 (2352 views) Gold explorer Polyus Gold has launched a new processing mill at its Olimpiada mine in the Krasnoyarsk region of Russia.Alexander Khloponin - governor of Krasnoyarsk - and chairman of the board of directors of Polyus Sergey Batekhin participated in the opening ceremony yesterday. The mill has a capacity of five million tonnes of ore per year, which will increase the mine's sulfide ore processing capacity to eight million tonnes and the total ore processing capacity of the mine will be increase to 9.5 million tonnes of ore per year. "I am pleased that the largest ore processing plant in Russia has been put into operation successfully and on schedule. This represents a major step forward not only for Polyus Gold but also for the whole Russian gold mining industry," commented general director of Polyus Pavel Skitovich. Mr Batekhin noted that the shareholders of Polyus consider development of the production facilities as one of the company's key priorities. Polyus is aiming for a three-fold increase in production by the year 2015.
