Oro Gold begins work on Mexico City projectThursday, 1st June 2006 (2595 views) Oro Gold has announced that first phase drilling at the Ixtapan gold property located 120km west of Mexico City. The drill programme has been funded by the company's joint venture with Rockgate Capital. Oro Gold has spent the last 12 months developing its drill targets and building its technical team preparing for this project. "We are very excited to get started with the Company's first drill program, and we plan to keep the momentum going with drilling throughout the year testing other priority targets at Oro's projects located elsewhere in Mexico," Eric Grill, Oro Gold's vice president of exploration said. The Ixtapan targets lined up for drill-tested are gold-bearing vein structures, many of which are below historic underground workings. The individual veins are up 750 metres in length and are open along strike and at depth, Oro Gold said. The area had previous been explored by the Mexico government more than 20 years ago, with data reporting grades up to 15.25 grams per tonne Au over 3.5 metres, and an average grade of 6.62 g/t Au over 1.31 metres of average width for 132 samples over a composite strike length of 215 metres.
