Indian firm's golden rewardsTuesday, 7th March 2006 (2844 views) An Indian IT distributor claims to have seen sales rocket by 40 per cent after motivating its sales partners with gold coins.Mumbai-based Rashi Peripherals is about to award 167 of its partners with gold coins after they achieved preset sales volumes of new Sony products last year. According to Rashi's divisional head Rajesh Goenka, the tactic has worked wonders on the firm's top-line while simultaneously ensuring that market prices haven't been eroded. "During this programme we noticed a 40 per cent increase in our Sony business, which justifies encouraging the channel with such incentives," he told DQ Channels. "Also, we prefer to give tangible prizes which partners can't discount in their product selling prices and can also use as and when they want." Mr Goenka explained that gold coin winners fell into three categories, depending on sales volumes. Those falling into the second highest category, for instance, will earn themselves gold coins weighing between 200 and 400 grams. Another 81 partners who didn't do quite so well will receive smaller coins in multiples of 10 grams.
