Mongolian copper-gold prospect looks promisingTuesday, 10th January 2006 (2860 views) Asia Gold Corp. has released initial drilling results for the Khongor porphyry copper-gold prospect in the Gobi area of Mongolia. The operation consisted of five diamond drill holes, with a combined depth of 935m. Khongor North consists of KDPH-3 through to KDPH-5. KDPH-3 was drilled to a depth of 70.3 metres, with a grading of 0.67 per cent copper and 0.16 gram per tonne (g/t) gold. KDPH-3 also had a higher-grade interval 21.9m deep, where results averaged 1.77 per cent copper and 0.46 g/t gold. KDPH-4 reached down 91.7m, and was graded at 0.3 per cent copper and 0.03 g/t gold, while KDPH-5 was deepest at 110.5m, yielding 0.15 per cent copper and 0.03 g/t gold. The drilling angles of KDPH-3 to KDPH-5 were minus 45, minus 80 and minus 45 degrees respectively. KDPH-1 and KDPH-2, also completed in December last year, constitute an area known as Khongor South, located 600m from the other holes. These yielded an average grade of 0.72 per cent copper and 0.13 g/t gold. David Owens, Asia Gold president, summarised: "The strong copper-gold mineralisation in KPDH-3 intersection is very encouraging and highlights the excellent potential of the two-kilometre-long Khongor porphyry system. "Planning is already underway for a major follow-up exploration programme in 2006."
