Ariana Resources has announced more positive gains from its Kiziltepe gold prospect in Balikesir, Turkey.

It claims it has defined a wide zone of gold mineralization with a strike length of at least 240m through channel sampling done on the Arzu North vein.

Ariana is a technology-driven metal exploration company, which aims to discover multi-million ounce potential gold deposits in the Tethyan metallogenic belt of Turkey.

The Kiziltepe prospect is held under a ten-year renewable licence and forms part of the 235 square km Sindirgi gold project owned by the company in western Turkey.

Steven Poulton, chief executive of Ariana, commented on the results: "The discovery of such a consistent area of gold mineralisation, open in all directions, in and around the Arzu North vein is very encouraging.

"[It] is a further powerful demonstration of the effectiveness of our exploration approach. Given that we hold 56 licences in Turkey, with exploration aggressively underway, we are confident that our technology driven methodology will lead to further discoveries."

He added that the company now believes there is a significant gold system at the Kiziltepe prospect, due to an adjacent large gold in soil anomaly and parallel gold grade in Ariana's Ceylan prospect.

Despite a drop of two per cent in output from mines worldwide, in December demand for gold jewellery rose by 16 per cent in Turkey.
