New outcrops of porphyry mineralisation have been discovered in GoldQuest Mining's Cerro Dorado project in central Dominican Republic.

The firm's announcement follows May 2005's discovery drill holes, which had intersections of 0 to 22.86 meters grading 2.94 g/t gold at CD-01; 0 to 20 metres grading 2.7 g/t gold at CD-02 and to 50 metres grading 1.34 g/t gold at CD-03.

The alteration zone associated with the porphyry system has been extended to 1,400 metres by 2,000 metres following infill soil sampling, rock chip sampling and geological mapping.

Meanwhile critical definition potassic altered porphyry with quartz-magnetite has been mapped 500 metres to the northwest of the drill hole collars. This area also saw values of up to 2.01 g/t gold recorded in the soils.

Values up to 0.96 per cent copper with 0.12 g/t gold from quartz vein float were also recorded 2.5 kilometres north of the drilled zone in La Arrinconada.

The GoldQuest drilling programme will also be extended to test the structurally controlled Cana del Frio zone where values of 491 g/t gold have previously been recorded from float samples.
