Thursday, 8th September 2005 (4456 views) An Rs800 million gold souk will be opened in Jaipur, Rajasthan in 2007, Aerens Gouldsouk International announced yesterday.The Aerens Group, a real estate developing house, plans to build a gold souk in the tourist hotspot of Jaipur. "We are going to start work within the next two months and hope to complete the project during Diwali in 2007," Aerens Goldsouk International's director, G.S. Pillai, told IANS. Diwali falls during the Indian wedding season and is also near to Christmas, thereby providing a multitude of gold-buying opportunities, which the opening hopes to capitalise on. Current plans indicate that the 300,000 square foot complex will have six levels and house 150 jewellers in addition to providing 200 offices for jewellery traders, exporters and agents. A gem souk will be simultaneously launched within the gold souk.
