Placer Dome to drill Nevada Pacific's property

Tuesday, 30th August 2005 (2950 views)

Drilling could begin in September for Placer Dome US on Nevada Pacific Gold's BMX property.

Eleven drill sites will be constructed in the Long Peak area, which is part of the Battle Mountain Range in Nevada, the US's seventh biggest state, and located close to the Bluebird mine.

Placer Dome and Nevada Pacific are currently operating a joint venture, which allows Placer Dome up to a 70 per cent interest in the BMX project if investing enough in exploration and a feasibility study.

Historically, drilling in the Long Peak and Bluebird area has recorded gold values of 10' of 0.135 opt gold from 25' to 35' in the north of the area, and 3.5' of 0.767 opt gold in the south.

To date Nevada Placer owns the Magistral Gold Mine in Mexico and has various interests in the Nevada state including portions of two significant gold producing belts.

Gold and silver mining are amongst Nevada's major industries, the others being tourism and hydroelectric power.
