Gold exhibitions are central to Dubai's economyThursday, 11th August 2005 (2468 views) Exhibitions occurring in Dubai, which frequently showcase gold, account for almost $1.5 billion of the country's GDP.Fasahat Ali Khan at the Expo Centre in Sharjah told Khaleej Times about the venue he manages. "Sharjah Expo Centre is a versatile venue allowing for the hosting of a range of innovative events and today hosts over 20 exhibitions a year," he commented. The mideast watch and jewellery spring and autumn shows attract a large amount of visitors and display the latest jewellery, gems and gold trends. The International Food Fair also proves hugely popular. In addition to Sharjah, Ajman and Fujairah are large capacity exhibition areas in the United Arab Emirates.
