Norilsk reports rise in gold salesWednesday, 15th June 2005 (2783 views) Norilsk Nickel has released its financial results for 2004, reporting a 34 per cent increase in its gold sales revenue.According to the results, covering the year until December 31st 2004, gold sales revenues increased to $493 million. Additional figures show the firm saw the amount of gold produced increase to 1.211 million ounces, compared to 941,000 in 2003. The key gold producer during the period was Polyus, Norilsk's gold mining unit, which produced 1.080 million ounces during the year. Norilsk also has a 20 per cent share in South Africa's Gold Fields, the fourth biggest gold producer in the world. The main shareholders in the firm are chief executive Mikhail Prokhorov and president of parent company Interros, Vladimir Potanin.
