Two new gold zones discovered in MexicoMonday, 13th June 2005 (2531 views) Canplats Resources has announced that it has discovered two new zones of gold mineralization at a mine in Mexico.Named Mesa and Santa Rita Ridge, the new zones are located at Canplats' Yerbabuena gold property in the state of Durango. Six separate zones were drill tested in a structurally favourable area of approximately one square mile in order to locate the new areas. This area is characterised by swarms of northwesterly trending, locally banded quartz veins and zones of epithermal alteration developed in volcanic rocks. Rock chip samples of the hydrothermally altered volcanics have yielded significant gold assays of up to 7.0 grams of gold per tonne.
