Tuesday, 10th May 2005 (2559 views)

Peru's output of gold rose in March, according the company's Energy and Mines Ministry.

Gold production rose 2.6 per cent to 14,172 kilograms in March, compared with the same month the previous year.

Lima attributed the increase in gold output over the year in part to Minera Yanacocha and Barrick Gold's Pierina mine.

The ministry also reported that copper, zinc and silver production fell during the month, according to MarketWatch.

Minera Yanacocha is run by Newmont Mining and Buenaventura also holds a large stake.track
