Tuesday, 5th April 2005 (4373 views) The Dubai Metals and Commodities Centre (DMCC) has revealed that Dubai's first gold refinery to start operation in the DMCC will be able to produce 100 tonnes of gold by the third quarter of this year.<br/><br/>According to AME Info, at full capacity the Al Ghurair Giga Gold refinery (GGG) will produce 100 tonnes of the precious yellow metal and 40 tonnes of silver.<br/><br/>GGG first began commercial operations in October 2004 and uses its refined gold for the production of various gold bars, such as Ten Tola Bar 999, 100 Grams 999, one kilogram 995 and one kilogram 999.<br/><br/>Marwan Bakir, head of GGG, said: "Currently we are increasing our capacity in gold production and will reach full capacity production by the third quarter. We look forward to making rapid strides of progress over the coming months and strengthening Dubai's image as the centre for trade of gold and other precious metals."<br/><br/>The company is looking to maintain the "highest standards of quality" and is aiming to achieve new certification and obtain a category two in the new Dubai Good Delivery process.<br/><br/>New shift plans at the refinery will also mean it will be able to operate three shifts per day to help support production further.<br/><br/>"As with all licensed refineries DMCC will provide total support to the Al Ghurair Giga Gold refinery to enhance its operating efficiency and productivity," Ahmed bin Sulayem, chief operating officer, DMCC, added.<img alt="track" src="http://directnews.dehavilland.co.uk/dn.gif?feedid=196&itemid=8202106"/>
