Production begins at Barrick's Tanzania mineWednesday, 16th March 2005 (2854 views) Barrick Gold has announced production has begun at its new Tulawaka mine in Tanzania.The Canadian miner claims mines are set to produce around 70,000-75,000 ounces of gold. It is hoped the mine is the first of four, to help increase output by 40 per cent by 2007. Other sites include Lagunas Norte in Peru, Veladero in Argentina, and Cowal in Australia, with production set to begin in coming months. Barrick has a 70 per cent share in the project, with the remainder owned by Northern Mining Explorations. Barrick produced nearly five million ounces of gold in 2004.
