Cookson revamp shifts gold production to UKTuesday, 15th March 2005 (2905 views) Cookson, an electronics and ceramics group has revealed its business reshuffle has helped to cut annual losses by 90 per cent.The company provides materials and services for various sectors, including precious metals for the jewellery sector. A number of areas have been reorganised at the company, including the precious metals operation in Europe, so European production focuses on gold products in the UK and silver items in Spain. In addition, two factories have been closed in France and seven sales offices have been consolidated into three. Chief executive Nick Salmon said all three of its divisions, ceramics, precious metals and electronics, had recorded strong increases in operating profits. "From this position, we are confident we can deliver additional improvements," Mr Salmon said.
