Friday, 11th March 2005 (6851 views) Latest mining data, which takes into account seasonal adjustments, has shown that gold output volume in South Africa increased by 1.2 per cent in the three months to January.<br/><br/>Figures compared to the period from August to October showed that overall minerals production was up 7.1 per cent in the three months.<br/><br/>However seasonally adjusted gold sales did fall by one per cent, compared to the previous month, according to Reuters.<br/><br/>South Africa is starting to increase its focus on the gold mining sector, with the NUM announcing this week that it is to introduce a new mining union.<img alt="track" src="http://directnews.dehavilland.co.uk/dn.gif?feedid=196&itemid=8004131"/>
