Latest mining data, which takes into account seasonal adjustments, has shown that gold output volume in South Africa increased by 1.2 per cent in the three months to January.<br/><br/>Figures compared to the period from August to October showed that overall minerals production was up 7.1 per cent in the three months.<br/><br/>However seasonally adjusted gold sales did fall by one per cent, compared to the previous month, according to Reuters.<br/><br/>South Africa is starting to increase its focus on the gold mining sector, with the NUM announcing this week that it is to introduce a new mining union.<img alt="track" src="http://directnews.dehavilland.co.uk/dn.gif?feedid=196&itemid=8004131"/>
