Canadian miner Canplats Resources has announced that drilling has begun at its wholly owned Yerbabuena gold property in Durango.

The firm plans a reverse circulation drill programme for up to 1,800 metres and ten holes.

Five main areas will be targeted in this first programme, which have been identified with prospecting, mapping and local chip sampling.

All the targets are broad zones of sheeted quartz veinlets and are structurally controlled, with vein texture typical of upper sequence gold systems.

Canplats is a well-financed junior gold exploration company, which has interests in two other Mexican gold prospects and is seeking other gold prospects in Mexico.
