Promotions giving visitors to Dubai the chance of winning gold have caught the attention of millions across the globe.

The world's biggest gold promotion is offering the biggest bounty in history, with participants in line to win 100 kilos of gold at the end of the Dubai Shopping Festival (DSF) in February.

To enter, participants buy an exclusively designed 22-carat DSF Celebration coin for Dh250 from outlets around the city. The uniqueness of this promotion is that the entrant can make a return on his investment, with the gold coin purchased to enter the promotion already valued at Dh170.

The value of the coin can be redeemed for cash at any time, with the remaining cost of the entry going towards the major prize.

The festival is also running its annual 'City of Gold' promotion, which gives entrants the chance to win a kilo of gold a day. Entrants must spend Dhs500 in any participating outlets to receive a raffle coupon to enter the promotion.

The promotion has given away over 400 kilos of gold in prizes since its inception with many travellers making their way to the city to try their chances.
