Friday, 14th January 2005 (4490 views) A collection of rare gold coins from ancient Rome and Greece has just been put on pre-auction display.<br/><br/>The collection has been in a bank vault in Baltimore, Maryland, for nearly fifty years.<br/><br/>The ancient coins have a value of more than $5 million (£2.68 million), according to the auction organisers.<br/><br/>The most valuable coin depicts Pedro I, the first emperor of Brazil, and is valued at $100,000 (£56,000).<br/><br/>John Eliasberg, the son of the collector Louis E. Eliasberg Sr., a renowned Baltimore banker, recently decided to put the coins up for sale.<br/><br/>The auction will be held in New York on April 19th and 20th.<img src="http://directnews.dehavilland.co.uk/dn.gif?feedid=196&itemid=7566122"/>
