Gold raffle to pre-empt record gold sales

Tuesday, 11th January 2005 (2945 views)

The 10th annual Dubai Shopping Festival has kicked off with the launch of a massive gold raffle.

A total of 120 kilos of gold is on offer with four weekly draws of 5kgs each and a grand draw of 100kgs of gold.

The grand prize is worth a staggering six million dirhams which is roughly £870,000. To enter a 22 carat Commemorative Gold Coin must be purchased.

Tawheed Abdulla, chairman of the Dubai Gold and Jewellery Group, told AME Info that he expected record gold sales this year at the Dubai shopping extravaganza.

"This time we expect to break all previous records with the biggest sales in history," he stated.

"However, I would like to stress that our aim in promoting gold is not about making profits but marketing and manufacturing this coveted metal with the most rigid customer protection regulations."
