Wednesday, 1st December 2004 (4532 views) The Precious Mineral Marketing Company (PMMC) has honoured companies and individuals for their contribution to the industry in Ghana.<BR/><BR/>According to GNA, awards were given to 61 winners, who dealt in either gold or diamond.<BR/><BR/>Winners were presented with plaques, certificates and gold and diamond scales.<BR/><BR/>Present at the event, the minister of Mines, Cecilia Bannerman, explained that the government was putting in place help for small-scale miners and extra support for them with technology and advice.<BR/><BR/>In addition, the government in Ghana are looking into ways to encourage goldsmiths to add value to their products and to help them boost output.<BR/><BR/>Funds are also being sourced from Italy to help jewellers meet international standards.<img src="http://directnews.dehavilland.co.uk/dn.gif?feedid=196&itemid=7210337"/>
