GFMS issues report on gold mining in ChinaTuesday, 9th November 2004 (2709 views) A new publication has been created between GFMS and China Financial Services, in the first ever detailed review of gold mining in China.'Gold Mining in China' follows the 'Gold Market in China' report launched earlier this year in Shanghai and covers the recent deregulation of the industry, production by key mines and stock exchange details of companies. GFMS claims the publication is essential reading for foreign mining majors and juniors, banks and investors. According to GFMS, following a decade of reform in the gold mining sector, there are considerable opportunities in China. Although domestic production may have peaked at around 200 tonnes a year, the report suggests that demand could easily reach 600 tonnes in the next ten years. This is said to be the first serious attempt to give an overall view of the official strategy in China and to measure the challenges involved.
