Gold Fields still keen to expand outside South AfricaFriday, 1st October 2004 (2503 views) Gold Fields has announced it is hoping to further expand its gold mining interests outside of South Africa.The world's fourth biggest gold miner is keen to expand and diversify its gold mining interests, according to iAfrica.com. Chair Chris Thompson said: "The gold price outlook remains firm, underscored by declining gold production, high international tensions, the almost certain assumption of inflation in the US and strongly rising investment demand for gold." The company released its 2004 financial report this week, with total expenditure set to reach around R 2.155 billion during its 2005 financial year. In addition Kofi Ansah, the former head of the Ghanian Minerals Commission, is to join the board at the firm.
