Gold Fields still keen to expand outside South Africa

Gold Fields has announced it is hoping to further expand its gold mining interests outside of South Africa.<BR/><BR/>The world's fourth biggest gold miner is keen to expand and diversify its gold mining interests, according to iAfrica.com.<BR/><BR/>Chair Chris Thompson said: "The gold price outlook remains firm, underscored by declining gold production, high international tensions, the almost certain assumption of inflation in the US and strongly rising investment demand for gold."<BR/><BR/>The company released its 2004 financial report this week, with total expenditure set to reach around R 2.155 billion during its 2005 financial year.<BR/><BR/>In addition Kofi Ansah, the former head of the Ghanian Minerals Commission, is to join the board at the firm.<img src="http://directnews.dehavilland.co.uk/dn.gif?feedid=196&itemid=3508240"/>
