Gold output down in South Africa

Latest statistics have shown that gold output by volume has increased in South Africa, according to Mining Weekly.

The figures from Statistics South Africa show that output by volume rose by 0.5 per cent during the three months to June, compared with January to March.

However the agency claimed that seasonally-adjusted gold output during June fell by 3.6 per cent.

In addition year-on-year sales of gold also fell in South Africa during the three months to the end of May, dropping by 4.2 per cent.
