Japanese investors say Hello to golden coinsThursday, 24th June 2004 (3448 views) Japan's precious metals market is using its most recognisable feline to help boost interest in first time investors. In a joint venture between Taisei Coins Corp and Sanrio Co., new coins have been produced to mark the 30th anniversary of the Hello Kitty range, according to Dow Jones. Available in silver and gold, the coins vary in price with one-ounce gold coins priced at 126,000 yen. The coins feature Hello Kitty in one of six different kimonos on one side, each one representing a heroine in a classic kabuki play, and the other features Queen Elizabeth II. Hello Kitty also featured in Japan's precious metals market in March when gold Hello Kitty medallions were released and in February when a 1.2-inch tall Hello Kitty doll was launched in a diamond encrusted dress.
