Speaking to the Mehr News Agency, Mr Talakar revealed that each day 5,000 kilograms of gold is used in the country, imported by smugglers or through informal gateways. Concerns were raised as to Iran's performance against other countries though, with competitors including Singapore, Turkey, Malaysia and Italy.
