Thursday, 3rd June 2004 (7311 views) The movement of gold in and out of Dubai is running at a fairly intensive level, according to new statistics released by the Dubai Metals and Commodities Centre (DMCC).<BR/><BR/>According to the DMCC a total of 116,913 kilos of gold were imported from the region in the first quarter of 2004, while exports hit 61,653 kilos.<BR/><BR/>The DMCC figures show that the total value of the gold passing through the region stood at a massive $2.3 billion for the quarter. <BR/><BR/>In a statement the organisation declared: "Official figures for the first three months of 2004 show a healthy increase both in the movement of gold in and out of Dubai."<BR/><BR/>"DMCC feels that this matches the increased activity in other local gold centres but it is too early to decide if this level of business that can be maintained."<img src="http://directnews.dehavilland.co.uk/dn.gif?feedid=196&itemid=2751781"/>
