Booming gold production reported in RussiaTuesday, 27th April 2004 (3244 views) Gold production has grown in Russia this year, according to recent figures for the first quarter of 2004.Results show that production of the precious metal increased by 13.6 per cent year-on-year to 25.012 tonnes, reports Interfax. According to the Gold Producers' Union byproduct and incidental production grew by 50 per cent to 3.013 tonnes. The biggest growth was seen in recoveries from secondary production or scrap, with a 250 per cent rise to 3.099 tonnes. In terms of regions, Krasnoyarsk was the best producer, mining 6.212 tonnes of gold.
