Indian gold production shows marked growthMonday, 29th March 2004 (3287 views) Gold production in India during April 2003 - February 2004 reached 9,024.822 kg.Production far exceeded the target of 7,205.463 kg set and marked a sharp increase from the 7,589.322 kg produced during the same period last year. Hutti Gold Mines Limited (HGML) produced 2,793.822 kg, Hindustan Copper Limited (HCL) 195 kg and Hindustan Aluminium Company Limited (HINDALCO) 6,036 kg. Following the closure of Bharat Gold Mines Limited (BGML) in 2001, HGML is now the only unit processing gold from ore stage. Public sector HCL and private sector HINDALCO process gold as a by-product while processing copper. During February, 2004, the two firms produced 824.539 kg of gold against a target of 668.465 kg.
